Hey everyone! I’ve got something super exciting to share with all you American Doll lovers. So, I recently had the incredible opportunity to take a photo in front of Samantha’s actual home in Mount Kisco, and let me tell you, it felt like stepping straight into a dream. Capturing the classic “Meet Samantha” book cover photo right there was like bringing a piece of history to life.
Standing in front of that beautiful Victorian house, I could almost hear Samantha’s giggles and the rustle of her dress as she went about her adventures. It got me thinking – how amazing would it be to travel around the US, recreating the original six characters’ American Girl covers in the places that inspired their stories?
For the photo shoot, I dressed Samantha in her original meet outfit – the one before they updated her to the BeForever line in the late 2000s. This set includes a taffeta checked dress, matching checked hair ribbon, long black tights/stockings, white bloomers, and black Mary Jane shoes.
The classic look brought back so many memories and added an authentic touch to the photos, making them even more special.

This photo shoot got me dreaming about other locations and stories to bring to life. Just imagine traveling around the US, recreating scenes from each American Girl’s story!
For now, though, I’m treasuring this special moment with Samantha. Standing in front of her home, camera in hand, I felt a deep connection to her story and the era she represents.
Just imagine the possibilities! Starting with Felicity, I’d head to Colonial Williamsburg, where the cobblestone streets and historic buildings would provide the perfect backdrop for her colonial attire. I can already see her standing proudly in front of the Governor’s Palace, a true picture of 1774 elegance.
Next up, Josefina’s rancho. I recently learned that her story was inspired by a real place in New Mexico. Picture Josefina, with her beautiful black hair and traditional outfit, against the stunning desert landscape and adobe buildings. The rich history and vibrant culture of New Mexico would bring her story to life in such a vivid way.
Now, I’m not entirely sure about the exact locations for Molly or Kirsten’s homes, but the idea of exploring these characters’ worlds is thrilling. Maybe Molly could be photographed in a quaint 1940s neighborhood, complete with vintage cars and war-time posters, capturing the spirit of her era. For Kirsten, a trip to Minnesota to find a picturesque prairie setting would be ideal. The wide-open spaces and rustic charm would perfectly complement her pioneer story.
And then there’s Addy. I’d love to take her to Philadelphia, capturing her in front of a historical boarding house or sewing shop. The city’s rich history and vibrant culture would provide a meaningful backdrop for her story of courage and resilience.
Planning these photo shoots would be such an adventure! Each trip would not only be about capturing the perfect photo but also about immersing myself in the history and culture of each era. It’s like bringing the American Girls to life in the most authentic way possible.
For now, I’m cherishing the memory of my visit to Samantha’s home and dreaming of all the future adventures. Maybe someday, I’ll get to embark on this fun project, traveling across the country with my dolls, bringing their stories to life one photo at a time.
Thanks for joining me on this little journey through my imagination. I hope this inspires you to think about your own American Girl adventures and photo shoots. Let’s keep the magic of their stories alive, one snapshot at a time!
